soft tissue fillers

Master Course

expert filler

complications
cadaver course

Prevention of live changing complications, such as blindness after filler injections, is our number one priority. Knowledge and deep understanding of the 3-dimensional anatomy is key in preventing complications. Real hands-on cadaver dissections and treatments can give the clinician the anatomical insights that cannot be attained by reading books or studying images or videos.

This 3-day Master Course is intended for experienced physicians who are working with soft tissue fillers. Primarily focussing on improving their technical skills with calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse, or similar) and hyaluronic acid (Belotero Range and others). The anatomy-based part of the course targets prevention and management of soft tissue filler complications during a cadaver training.

Day 1 will take place on 16 October 2024 in Utrecht. Day 2 and 3 will take place on 17 & 18 October 2024 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

master course

about this course

The rheological properties of biostimulators and hyaluronic acid products are highlighted and depending on clinical needs in specific facial areas, a specific product is chosen. The theoretical background of working with calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse, or similar) and hyaluronic acid (Belotero Range and others) is offered through online learning materials.

Understanding the correct safest treatment techniques will result in lower risk of complications. With both silicone heads as well as cadaver specimens, we dive deep into management of vascular filler complications. Really knowing the anatomy not only serves as the most valuable element of prevention of complications, but will be of the highest value in treatment of complications, should they occur. During this master course, we highlight both prevention and treatment of complications. Specific attention is reserved for ultrasound guided injections.

  • access to an extensive online learning package
  • a unique opportunity to learn from the best experts in the field
  • 3 full days of hands–on training including evening program

course level: advanced

This course is intended for physicians with significant experience in aesthetic injectable procedures. If licensed in your country to independently perform these procedures, in some cases (prescribing) nurses or dentists could also apply.

Please note: in The Netherlands, nurses and dentists are not allowed to perform these procedures and will not be permitted to enter the course.

theoretical training

The theoretical training part consists of detailed instruction videos that cover the assessment of the facial aging process and advanced injection techniques. Scientific presentations cover prevention and management of vascular complications and anatomical based injection techniques from low to very high risk facial indications. Participants will test their knowledge by taking an online exam. Included is a set of discourses presented by Jani van Loghem and Philippe Snozzi, covering the following topics:

01  avoiding and minimising complications

Safety is a cornerstone of any cosmetic injection ability. Learn what’s needed to avoid and minimise complications.

02  HA, CCHA and PLLA complication management

A deep dive into the complexity of specific complication management for HA, CCHA and PLLA treatments.

03  non-resorbable filler complication management

Non-resorbable filler complications still occur, the key to resolving these complications is adequate knowledge and skills.

04  ultrasound imaging in complication management

Vascular occlusions can be located using an ultrasound device. Learn how to use ultrasound to detect occlusions and guide Hyaluronidase injections to resolve them.

05  radiesse

Calcium Hydroxylapatite's essential knowledge. Learn about the development, properties and mode of action of the Radiesse product.

06  belotero

Expand your knowledge on the rheological properties of Belotero and how to use its effects to your advantage.

07  combining radiesse and belotero

Learn how to employ Radiesse in combination with Belotero in global facial rejuvenation

08  high risk areas

And preventative suggestions to minimize risk of complications

09  a global facial approach

A standard protocol for combining Radiesse and Belotero

Our new textbook Filler Complication Prevention and Management serves as the theoretical basis of this Master Course. A hard copy of the book will be provided to you at the start of the training. An online certificate will be available to those interested in a certification that can be used for accreditation points.

personalised hands-on  training

Several acute situations after filler embolization with both hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite will be practiced in small break out groups. Each delegate will be leading at least one case of acute ischemia. Ultrasound devices will be available for practicing ultrasound guided hyaluronidase injections. Fresh frozen cadaver specimens will be available for retrobulbar hyaluronidase injections and technical skill practice in high and very high risk zones in order to prevent vascular occlusion.

During the practical, hands-on training on live patients, delegates will be allowed to share the indications that they would like to inject (depending on our patient’s needs). The indications are ordered according to risk level, from basic, very low risk indications to highly advanced indications. All injections will be demonstrated and guided by our experienced faculty.

On the first day we will simulate several acute situations after filler embolisation with both hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite. These will be practised in small break out groups, each delegate will be leading at least one case of acute ischemia. Cadaver specimens will be available for injection with dyed filler materials to deepen anatomical understanding of filler safety. During the live patient treatments on the following days, each participant will inject at least three indications per day. Our faculty will be scoring the technical skills using OSATS (Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills) forms, as is practised during medical specialisation training.
