about this course

theoretical content

The online theoretical part covers the latest insights and best practises on how to prevent and manage arterial embolisation of the peripheral circulation as well as the retinal circulation.
Even small volumes of filler can lead to devastating complications such as blindness or tissue necrosis when injected intra-arterially. This Master Course equips physicians with the knowledge and skills to act rapidly and decisively in such situations.
The course combines:
- Extensive online study package (including exam).
- Hands-on skills practice in acute vascular occlusion situations.
- Practical sessions on fresh frozen cadaver specimens and retrobulbar injections of hyaluronidase.
Included in this master course is:

  • discourses by Dr. Jani van Loghem & Dr. Philippe Snozzi
  • ebook ‘Soft Tissue Filler Complications: Prevention and Management’ by Dr. Jani van Loghem & Dr. Philippe Snozzi
  • ebook ‘Mastery of Regenerative Aesthetics - Quick Reference Guide’’ by Dr. Jani van Loghem
  • selection of instruction videos
  • online examination to test your knowledge

personalized hands-on training

Delegates practice in small groups. The training includes:
- Managing acute vascular embolization with HA, CaHA and PLLA.
- Each delegate will be leading at least one case of acute ischemia.
- Ultrasound-guided hyaluronidase injections.
- Leading and resolving emergency cases under expert supervision.

course level: entry & advanced

This course is intended for both entry level physicians as well as physicians with significant experience in aesthetic injectable procedures. If licensed in your country to independently perform these procedures, in some cases (prescribing) nurses or dentists could also apply.
Please note: in The Netherlands, nurses and dentists are not allowed to perform these procedures and will not be permitted to enter the course.

you’ll have full access to the online learning materials of this course for 12 months!

course overview

theoretical content

The theoretical training is delivered through our digital platform under the section Online Learning Materials. It is built on two key reference works: ‘Soft Tissue Filler Complications: Prevention and Management’ and 'Mastery of Regenerative Aesthetics - Quick Reference Guide’. Both are available as ebooks within the online learning material, alongside detailed instruction videos. Participants who wish to test their knowledge can take an optional online multiple-choice examination. The online learning material also includes discourses by Dr. Jani van Loghem and Dr. Philippe Snozzi, covering the following topics:

01  avoiding and minimizing complications

Safety is a cornerstone of any cosmetic injection ability. Learn what’s needed to avoid and minimize complications.

02  HA, CaHA and PLLA complication management

A deep dive into the complexity of specific complication management for HA, CaHA and PLLA treatments.

03  non-resorbable filler complication management

Non-resorbable filler complications still occur, the key to resolving these complications is adequate knowledge and skills.

04  ultrasound imaging in complication management

Vascular occlusions can be located using an ultrasound device. Learn how to use ultrasound to detect occlusions and guide Hyaluronidase injections to resolve them.

morning

sign-in

09:00 - 09:30

welcome

09:30 - 10:00

Welcome to Anatomiegebouw in Utrecht by Dr. Jani van Loghem.
Introduction to the course, rules of cadaver lab, anatomical presentation of the intraorbital area and facial vasculature.

presentation

presentation

10:10 - 10:20

CaHA vascular complications management algorithm update. Peripheral and Retinal vascular compromise management algorithms after CaHA injection

hands-on training

10:20 - 12:00

Acute situations practical skills training.
Our faculty will lead the skills lab. Each participant is confronted with an acute clinical situation and leads the appropriate management. Silicone mannequins are available for complication management skills practice. Each group of participants will manage the following acute situations:
- Peripheral ischemia after HA
- Peripheral ischemia after CaHA
- Retinal ischemia after HA
- Retinal ischemia after CaHA

Each participant will manage at least one of these acute vascular situations.
Our faculty will be scoring the technical skills using OSATS forms for assessment of technical skills.
