about this course

This program, Facial Filler Essentials | Part 2, serves as a continuation of Part 1, which focused on foundational injection techniques in the lowest-risk facial areas using standardized protocols, developed by UMA Academy, designed to ensure maximum safety. Building upon this base, Part 2 aims to refine and deepen participants’ skills by emphasizing the interpretation of tactile feedback and enhancing awareness of the underlying anatomical structures within these treatment zones.

In addition to consolidating low-risk approaches, this course introduces additional techniques for the same regions that carry slightly elevated risk profiles—such as the use of sharp needles in place of blunt-tipped cannulas. Throughout the training, the overarching focus remains on complication prevention and the safe, effective use of hyaluronic acid fillers and biostimulatory products.

The injection protocols taught in this course are the result of ongoing clinical research and have been specifically developed by our expert faculty to support practitioners with limited experience in aesthetic injectable procedures.

  • extensive additional online materials available
  • online theory examination
  • 2 days of hands–on training including evening program

course level: entry

This entry-level course is designed for licensed physicians who have limited experience with injectable aesthetic procedures. In countries where regulations permit, the course may also be suitable for licensed nurses or dentists authorized to independently perform such treatments.

Please note: in The Netherlands, nurses and dentists are not allowed to perform these procedures. Unfortunately, Dutch nurses or dentists will not be permitted to enter the course. Physician assistants in the Netherlands are welcome to register if aesthetic procedures fall under their focus area of expertise.

theoretical training

Our Master Courses will bring you straight to the heart of aesthetic medicine. They offer a comprehensive learning experience, combining a solid theoretical background with hands–on treatment sessions and live assessment of skills. Participants will have access to theoretical online discourses presented by Jani van Loghem and Job Thuis that cover the following topics which are identical to Part 1:

01  hyaluronic acid and biostimulatory products

Get familiar with the essence of hyaluronic acid fillers and biostimulators.

02  facial aging and anatomy

A deep dive into the intricate workings of aging and facial anatomy. Learn to diagnose age related anatomical changes and identify areas that can be improved.

03  product characteristics linked to clinical desired results

Learn how to link properties of hyaluronic acid fillers and biostimulatory products to clinically desired outcomes. This discourse covers essential techniques in areas including the cheeks, jawline and perioral areas like lips, marionette lines and chin.

04  patient assessment

One of the most important parts of a great clinical result is understanding where the fillers should be placed. Facial assessment, based on evidence-based strategies, plays a pivotal role in achieving optimum outcomes.

05  contraindications, documentation and preparation for injections

Great results start with great preparations. Learn how to properly plan and set up your treatments.

06  treatment techniques and avoidance of complications

Based on the anatomy of the face, we will explain why we have chosen for these specific protocols for different low and moderate risk facial indications. You will understand that even though you may be a beginner, we will focus on cannula use because of the lower risk profile compared to needles. Throughout the course, we focus on safety and the avoidance of complications.
Additionally, detailed instruction videos cover facial assessment and injection techniques. Participants may test their knowledge by taking an online exam. A quick reference guide showcasing these techniques will be provided.

personalized hands-on training

Throughout our comprehensive 2–day training program, participants will perform live treatments on patients (using mostly cannulas) under the guidance and supervision of our experienced faculty. The indications are ordered according to risk level; in this course we do not inject in high and very high risk areas.

All procedures will be demonstrated and guided by our experienced faculty. This 2-day master course program is structured as follows:
