Master Course

aesthetic trainer development course

Do you aspire to become a global key opinion leader? That journey usually starts by developing from a great clinician to a trainer. When you teach other health care providers you will notice the need to dive deep into the smaller details of what you are doing. If you want to improve your skills as a toxin or filler trainer, you have to know a lot about anatomy, much more than when you are just a great injector. You have to know all the details about the products you teach with, have great communication skills, have an empathic personality and multi task during the training session. You have to be able to show a treatment technique in a very clear and understandable way, while explaining every step of the way while you are injecting, while making sure that the patient feels comfortable and the treatment can be seen on the screen in case you’re doing a live demonstration.

This Training will take place in a small group setting on 7 May 2025 in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

  • Key messages on injection technique safety

Online theoretical discourse videos will be available. A multiple choice examination will help to assess your knowledge.

practical course content

The practical part of the master course consists of a 1-day on-site event, divided into three parts: presentation skills, demonstration skills and training skills.

01  presentation skills

In the morning you will present a certain anatomical area that was assigned to you. You will have exactly 15 minutes to describe your injection protocol, technique and rationale, focusing on age-related anatomical changes and anatomical dangers using. You are asked to record your own instruction video for this area and show your before and after pictures and present them in UMA Academy presentation templates. Schematic diagrams of faces, cannulas and needles are available in the templates. Your peers will assess your presentation using Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills (OSATS) forms, in order for them to practice assessment of HCPs.

02  demonstration skills

The second part of the practical part consists of an injection session, where you will perform a live demonstration with cameras transmitting to a screen. You will inject a patient in the anatomical area that was assigned to you. You will have a maximum of 20 minutes to inject the patient in a clear, understandable and visible way. The intention is that the audience looking at the screen is able to understand all key messages on age related anatomical changes, the various anatomical layers, the anatomical dangers and key messages on product selection by explaining about the (rheological) properties. While you inject you have to show that you are conscious of the patient’s stress level and reassure them if they’re stressed. Your peers will assess your live demonstration using OSATS forms. The recordings of the video will be saved and you will be able to use the recordings in your own presentations.

03  hands-on trainer skills

After you complete the live demonstration, one of your peers will act as a novice injector and create a “problem”. In this role-play situation, you will be put in a certain situation that could be real in a real-life hands-on training and you will have to kindly direct the problematic injector to a safe outcome. Your peers will assess your hands-on trainer skills using OSATS forms.
