Hands-on Training

CaHA and HA hybrid fillers techniques

During this one- day hands-on training, the ins and outs of Calcium Hydroxylapatite in Carboxy Methyl Cellulose gel (CaHA-CMC) & hyaluronic acid with Cohesive Polydensified Matrix crosslinking technology (CPM-HA) blending will be explained. Delegates will receive a thorough background of the science behind hybrid fillers: the evidence so far.

Published as well as unpublished data will be shared. In the theoretical part, assessment strategy, determining the blend composition, clinical injection protocols as well as clinical demonstrations will be shared. In the practical part, delegates will have the opportunity to inject live patients during the hands-on training.

This hands-on training will take place in Amsterdam on 17 April 2025.

hands-on training

about this training

The rheological properties of CaHA and HA products are highlighted and depending on clinical needs in specific facial areas, a specific blend is chosen. The theoretical background is discussed in the morning didactic where protocols and clinical thought process is shared. During the hands-on training session, theory can be put to practice.

course level: advanced

This course is intended for physicians with significant experience in aesthetic injectable procedures. If licensed in your country to independently perform these procedures, in some cases (prescribing) nurses or dentists could also apply and depending on the mandatory completion of the enrollment course on anatomy and complication management.

Please note:
in The Netherlands, nurses and dentists are not allowed to perform these procedures and will not be permitted to enter the course.

background

Facial rejuvenation with injectable fillers has rapidly become one of the most frequently performed procedures in the aesthetic field. Two of the most widely used and versatile types of fillers for nonsurgical aesthetic treatments worldwide are the hyaluronic acid (HA)-based products and calcium hydroxylapatite (CaHA).

The established safety and efficacy of HA fillers and CaHA and their availability in most aesthetic practices has led to many physicians exploring innovative ways of utilizing these products. The range of uses of CaHA was further expanded with the discovery that the collagen-stimulating properties of CaHA can be used for skin-tightening procedures by (hyper) diluting the product with lidocaine or saline.

Nowadays, some physicians are also taking advantage of the complementary mechanisms of action of CaHA and HA fillers by combining them so that subjects receive both CaHA and an HA filler in a single injection session.

This may involve layering products in the same facial area, or injection of a premixed combination of the two. Since the two publications by Jonathan Kadouch and Nabil Fakih on premixing CPM-HA and CaHA, called the hybrid filler, this approach has gained great popularity. Since then they have published many more papers and have demonstrated safety of the CaHA-CMC with CPM-HA products convincingly.

First and foremost, the safety of this procedure was well demonstrated by the authors first publication, but in their second publication also the efficacy of this hybrid filler was shown to be impactful. A couple of reasons have been put forward to explain this efficacy and support further exploring the combination/premixing of both products. Scientific data supports the idea that the products enhance and improve each other’s characteristics and effects, leading to a great aesthetic outcome.

personalized hands-on  training

In this one-day hands-on course, the scientific data supporting the hybrid mixtures will be discussed. The different blending strategies of CaHA and CPM-HA will be shown, and the practical application and possible indications for the hybrid fillers will be explained, demonstrated, and practiced hands-on by the delegates during live injection sessions.
