course information

about this course

Our Master Courses are designed to keep your patients safe and they offer an evidence-based learning experience. This entry-level course provides a secure introduction to facial filler procedures. Based on Dr. Jani van Loghem’s PhD dissertation 'Optimizing Patient Safety during Facial Filler Treatments in Aesthetic Medicine', it teaches foundational protocols for essential facial indications. Participants are introduced to HA fillers and biostimulatory injectables such as CaHA and PLLA, and they learn how to perform evidence-based patient assessments, select the right products, and follow step-by-step protocols for safe and controlled injections.

theoretical content

The theoretical content is provided through our digital platform under the section Online Learning Materials.

Participants will be able to access to:

  • discourses by Dr. Jani van Loghem & Dr. Job Thuis
  • ebook ‘Facial Filler Essentials - Quick Reference Guide’’ by Dr. Jani van Loghem
  • selection of instruction videos
  • online examination to test your knowledge
  • receive your digital UMA Certification

The discourses presented by Dr. Jani van Loghem and Dr. Job Thuis cover the following topics:

01  hyaluronic acid and biostimulatory products

Get familiar with the essence of hyaluronic acid fillers and biostimulators.

02  facial aging and anatomy

A deep dive into the intricate workings of aging and facial anatomy. Learn to diagnose age related anatomical changes and identify areas that can be improved.

03  product characteristics linked to clinical desired results

Learn how to link properties of hyaluronic acid fillers and biostimulatory products to clinically desired outcomes. This discourse covers essential techniques in areas including the cheeks, jawline and perioral areas like lips, marionette lines and chin.

04  patient assessment

One of the most important parts of a great clinical result is understanding where the fillers should be placed. Facial assessment, based on evidence-based strategies, plays a pivotal role in achieving optimum outcomes.

05  contraindications, documentation and preparation for injections

Great results start with great preparations. Learn how to properly plan and set up your treatments.

06  treatment techniques and avoidance of complications

Based on the anatomy of the face, we will explain why we have chosen for these specific protocols for different low and moderate risk facial indications. You will understand that even though you may be a beginner, we will focus on cannula use because of the lower risk profile compared to needles. Throughout the course, we focus on safety and the avoidance of complications.

hands-on training program

Throughout our comprehensive evening program, participants will perform live treatments on patients (using cannulas) under the guidance and supervision of our experienced faculty. The indications are ordered according to risk level; in this course we do not inject in high and very high risk areas. All procedures will be demonstrated and guided by our experienced faculty.

independent practitioner | safe, competent, and independent in the fundamentals
Core anatomy, product science, indications, consent, and vascular-risk recognition and prevention. Standardized, protocol-driven treatment of straightforward patients in low-to-moderate-risk zones. Works independently within defined limits and knows when a case exceeds them.
This course is intended for physicians with limited or no experience in aesthetic injectable procedures. If licensed in your country to independently perform these procedures, in some cases (prescribing) nurses or dentists could also apply.

Please note:
in The Netherlands, dentists are not allowed to perform these procedures. Unfortunately, Dutch dentists will not be permitted to enter the course.
