master course
expert filler techniques & complications cadaver course
about this master course
The most important way to prevent live changing complications, like blindness after filler injections, is prevention. Knowledge and deep understanding of the 3-dimensional anatomy is key in preventing complications. Real hands-on cadaver dissections and treatments can give the clinician the anatomical insights that cannot be attained by reading books or studying images or videos.
This 3-day Master Course is intended for experienced physicians who are working with soft tissue fillers. Primarily focussing on improving their technical skills with calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse, or similar) and hyaluronic acid (Belotero Range and others). The anatomy-based part of the course targets prevention and management of soft tissue filler complications. The hands-on training will take place on 13, 14 & 15 April 2023 in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
expert filler techniques & cadaver course
The rheological properties of biostimulators and hyaluronic acid products are highlighted and depending on clinical needs in specific facial areas, a specific product is chosen. The theoretical background of working with calcium hydroxylapatite (Radiesse, or similar) and hyaluronic acid (Belotero Range and others) is offered through online learning materials.
Understanding the correct safest treatment techniques will result in lower risk of complications. With both silicone heads as well as cadaver specimens, we dive deep into management of vascular filler complications. Really knowing the anatomy not only serves as the most valuable element of prevention of complications, but will be of the highest value in treatment of complications, should they occur. During this master course, we highlight both prevention and treatment of complications. Specific attention is reserved for ultrasound guided injections.
- access to an extensive online learning package
- a unique opportunity to learn from the best experts in the field
- 3 full days of hands–on training including evening program
theoretical training
The theoretical training part consists of detailed instruction videos that cover the assessment of the facial ageing process and essential injection techniques. Participants who would like to test their knowledge are invited to take an optional online exam. Included are 5 hours of discourses presented by Jani van Loghem and Philippe Snozzi, covering the following topics:
The published textbook “Calcium Hydroxylapatite Expert Soft Tissue Filler Techniques” by CRC Press is highly recommended as reference. Our textbook “Soft Tissue Fillers Complication Prevention and Management” serves as a secondary theoretical basis of this Master Course. Both will be part of your learning materials.
personalised hands-on training
During the practical, hands-on training, delegates will be allowed to share the indications that they would like to inject (depending on our patient’s needs). The indications are ordered according to risk level, from basic, very low risk indications to highly advanced indications. All injections will be demonstrated and guided by our experienced faculty.

During the live patient treatments, each participant will inject at least three indications per day. For the anatomy part we will simulate several acute situations after filler embolisation with both hyaluronic acid and calcium hydroxylapatite. These will be practised in small break out groups, each delegate will be leading at least one case of acute ischemia. Our faculty will be scoring the technical skills using OSATS (Objective Structured Assessment of Technical Skills) forms, as is practised during medical specialisation training.
course level: advanced

If licensed in your country to independently perform these procedures, in some cases (prescribing) nurses or dentists could also apply. Please note: in The Netherlands, nurses and dentists are not allowed to perform these procedures and will not be permitted to enter the course.
